he newly envisioned Kamin Science Center brings the excitement of speed, science, and discovery together in a space designed to engage visitors from the moment they walk through the door.
For the Science of Speed project, Workscape worked with the team at Studio Lokken to bring the interior vision to life. Studio Lokken thoughtfully selected furniture and finishes for the lounge and public areas that complement the energy and excitement of the space, creating an environment that feels both dynamic and inviting.
Flexibility was an important part of the design. The day-to-day use of the space can quickly shift from public gatherings to private events, so the furniture and layout needed to support a variety of experiences. The selections throughout the lounge and public areas provide the comfort and functionality needed for everyday visitors while allowing the space to adapt when it hosts special events.
The experience is made even more engaging by the views overlooking the kart track, giving patrons a front-row perspective of the action while they enjoy the surrounding spaces.
“We hope the patrons truly enjoy these spaces as they spend the day at this newly envisioned space, and as they overlook the kart track," said Miv Laschon, Workscape Senior Interior Designer.
Workscape helped bring the design together with furniture from a range of manufacturers, including Muuto, Versteel, SitOnIt, OFS, Enwork, Grand Rapids Chair, Stylex, and Darran.
The result is a flexible, welcoming environment that complements the energy of the Science of Speed experience while giving visitors a comfortable place to gather, relax, and take in the action.
