ach year, the Athena Awards bring together some of Pittsburgh’s most accomplished and inspiring women to celebrate leadership, mentorship, and community impact. Hosted by the Pittsburgh Technology Council, the annual event recognizes those who exemplify professional excellence, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and dedicate themselves to supporting and uplifting other women.
Workscape was honored to attend this year’s Athena Awards, joining many leaders from across industries who came together to celebrate these exceptional women. The event serves as a reminder of the strength and spirit that define Pittsburgh’s business and nonprofit communities, and how collaboration and mentorship can create a ripple effect of empowerment.
“This was my first time attending the Athena Awards, and it was such a special experience,” said Heather Connolly, Workscape Account Manager. “The stories shared by the nominees were both moving and motivating, and the atmosphere throughout the event was incredibly positive and uplifting. I think everyone left feeling a little bit inspired by the nominees.”
For attendees like Heather and the Workscape team, the event offered not only a chance to connect with others who value leadership and growth but also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of mentorship, a value deeply embedded in Workscape’s own culture. At Workscape, collaboration is key to how we work, and supporting one another’s professional development is central to our success. The Athena Awards echoed those same principles, celebrating the women who are paving the way for others to thrive.
The award categories include both the Greater Pittsburgh ATHENA Award and the ATHENA Young Professional Award. Together, they honor women who demonstrate outstanding leadership in their fields while balancing professional achievement, community service, and the mentorship of other women and girls. The stories shared during the ceremony highlight not only individual success but also the broader networks of support that help shape strong, inclusive communities.
Throughout the event, attendees heard from nominees and past honorees who are leading change in technology, healthcare, education, architecture, and beyond. Each story reflected a shared commitment to courage, compassion, and continuous learning — qualities that resonate deeply with the Workscape team and the partners we collaborate with.
For Workscape, attending the Athena Awards was more than just an opportunity to celebrate others; it was a moment to recognize the shared vision that connects so many organizations in the Pittsburgh region, the belief that leadership is most powerful when it lifts others up.
As the event ended, one thing was clear: Pittsburgh continues to grow stronger because of the women who lead with empathy, purpose, and resilience. Workscape is proud to be part of a community that values this kind of leadership and looks forward to continuing to support and celebrate women who make a difference every day.
