eginning in 2022, Workscape and Continental Office will combine their furniture operations in Pennsylvania, moving forward under the Workscape brand as the sole authorized Miller + Knoll dealer in the region. This acquisition will broaden Workscape’s portfolio to include 19 Herman Miller + Knoll brands as well as support resources unparalleled in the local contract furniture market. While industry dynamics certainly accelerated this consolidation, the shared cultural values of the Continental and Workscape teams was the real driving factor.

“Miller’s recent acquisition of Knoll prompted us and Workscape to meet and discuss ways to create a win for both our clients and associates,” said Ira Sharfin, Continental’s CEO. “Early on we realized we had lots of similarities and it made so much sense to combine our Pittsburgh furniture businesses. The combined entity will be a force in Western Pennsylvania.”

Continental will remain in the Pittsburgh region through its flooring business, Wright Commercial Floors. “We will continue to grow Wright, and we look forward to partnering with the Workscape team on flooring opportunities,” noted Sharfin.

With this transaction, Workscape will immediately be servicing all of Continental’s customers and continue to represent the legacy Herman Miller brand across Western Pennsylvania. “Moving forward, Workscape will continue to provide best-in-class customer service alongside an industry leading brand in Miller + Knoll,” notes CEO Ginny Rothschild. “I couldn’t be more excited for the future of our business.”
